Cambridge Valley Cycling was founded in 2004 and comprises cyclists of all levels who enjoy riding and socializing together. The club holds regular rides during “the season,” three times a week. Rides usually begin at 5:30 or 6 p.m. for Mild Monday and Wednesday rides, and at 9:30 or 10 a.m. for Sunday rides. Most routes are primarily on paved roads with some dirt roads. We do have a group of gravel riders who enjoy the dirt, so we also schedule rides where the roads are predominantly dirt ones. Rides usually begin at the Cambridge Town Library parking lot, but other starting points include the Buskirk Covered Bridge, Greenwich, Salem, Arlington, and even Mt. Greylock. The regular season runs from March through the end of November, and for some diehard members, the club will squeeze in winter rides, as well. In addition to the regular riding schedule, members of the club participate in many local or regional biking events. Tour de Battenkill, Tour de Cure, Billy’s Ride, Black Fly Challenge, Whiteface Mtn. And the MHCC Gravel Gobbler, are among events in which club members have participated. Last year we also began scheduling club rail trail rides several times during the season. Finally, there is a social aspect to the club. We often will gather at the Argyle Brewing in Cambridge after our Wednesday night rides, have a picnic ride in July from the club president’s home, start rides from the RS Taylor Brewery in Salem or Brown’s Taproom in Walloomsac, and also a Monday night favorite, rides from Benson’s Dairy Bar in Eagle Bridge. Hope you might come out and join the fun. More information and pictures are available at www.cambridgevalleycycling.org or the club’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cambridgevalleycycling/
